Yes, we have finally released our binaries to the general public! They are available from this link.

There was a lot more that we wanted to ship in this release. But seeing as we’ve had various problems to deal with over the past month, we would never have been able to release. The maps that I was planning to ship will most likely be released in a later update to the bins.

In the meantime, have fun with these bins. They should help hugely with stability and various other bugs that were problems in anon.

And lastly, I’d like to thank the team for their dedication and hard work this past year. None of this could have been done without you :)

Bit of a repeat there :P
You guys should release your code to the public, so more people can help find & fix bugs with you. I dunno why all these beta patchup groups keep so closed, if its open source, and everybody has access to it, there is nothing to steal.

Hey stoker, thanks for the comment :)

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll make sure to get up with Inevitab13 and let him know to fix that :P

As for code, I am honestly on the fence about doing this. On one hand, we could definitely use the help, and we’d love to have a “community driven hl2″. On the other hand, there are obviously legal issues with opening up 6 year old leaked code.

The way this would work is if everyone would “email” us their patches, and we’d incorporate them into the source tree.

It’s going to require a major amount of deliberation before we can figure out what to do about open source (I’m in favor of it but my team members might not be).
